Targeted disinformation aimed to suppress voters from fully engaging in an election was rampant in 2016. In today’s environment, it has exploded, serving to magnify our history with voter suppression throughout the 20th Century.  False messages are being sent out online and amplifying what voters can and cannot do. There are fake accounts pretending to be members of issue-driven and culture communities that are sharing and elevating digital voter suppression narratives during both local and federal election cycles. We have also learned that there will be similar campaigns leading up to the November 2020 election.

That’s why Stop Online Violence Against Women Inc. (SOVAW) is launching the Stop Digital Voter Suppression™ Project.
