Part-Time: PR/Communications Consultant
We are looking for an experienced communications consultant to spearhead our digital, print, and video media relations efforts. The ideal candidate needs to be familiar with dis- and misinformation across social platforms directed toward Black and Brown communities in general and Black women in particular, have a deep interest in racial and social equity, and understand the role that false, targeted narratives play in perpetuating systemic racism. As the point of contact for the organization and our founder, Shireen Mitchell, she/he/they should be able to demonstrate expertise in crafting and executing an agile media strategy that is both proactive and responsive to the fast-moving political and social environment that surrounds our work.
Part-Time: Social Media Coordinator
We are looking for a part-time social media coordinator to manage its social platforms. An ideal candidate is a person with an academic focus on racial equity, legal protections for women and communities of color that counteract online violence, and eliminating inherent structural frameworks that permit social media companies to operate unbridled. The social media coordinator is responsible for maintaining SOVAW’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, growing our audience/user base, and working with our organization’s data scientists, public relations, and strategic arms to develop and implement new tactics to raise awareness of our mission.
