We believe that free speech is enhanced through civil dialog and a rational exchange of information and ideas. By fostering an online culture where individuals can fully engage and contribute without fear or threat of being the target of unwarranted abuse, harassment, or lies, and the core ideals of democracy are upheld.
Although many may believe that this campaign is focused on denying certain individuals their freedom of speech, we want to address that issue directly. This isn’t about name calling, disagreements of topic, or beliefs.
We recognize that death threats, rape, disinformation, citing imminent violence through online campaigns and violation of privacy (ie. doxing) are not forms of free speech. These threats and violations are illegal, in person and online.
If the police can arrest someone for threats against them through social media then all individuals who are threatening celebrities, journalists, or simply any vocal person because of their gender, race, sexual orientation, religious belief, disability or any combined aspects of their identity, should be held accountable.
Your speech is the right to challenge your government without being punished not your right harm others with out consequences.
“The five freedoms it protects: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. Together, these five guaranteed freedoms make the people of the United States of America the freest in the world.”
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
